We learn to communicate and understand love from our families.

Lapse is a study of relationships, ideals, and communication through movement, original music by Chris Sikora, video, and peaches. The work explores (mis)communications and expressions of love, questioning why we make certain decisions in how we communicate with each other and how communication styles are learned in the family.

For many of us, using the word “love” can be a challenge. Communicating information that makes us vulnerable puts us at risk of being hurt, but it can also bring us closer together. Why do some people have more difficulty with this than others? Is it possible to overcome such deeply rooted limitations in order to live happier, healthier lives? Lapse is a playful examination of these questions and more through music, dance, and video that the whole family can enjoy.
